Q&A with Sigrun Syverud
Co-founder and Co-CEO @ FJONG Norge AS
What are your plans for the future?
We will soon launch clothing subscriptions and clothing boxes, time sharing of clothes and a stylist platform on the FJONG site. We believe that in not too long, people will think about consuming clothes in terms of rental instead of acquiring. We believe that rental of clothes will be easier and cheaper than buying, as well as feel more convenient, as we will deliver and pick up where people live and work. As soon as we have streamlined the services both logistic and web wise, we plan to expand internationally. We have already received requests from customers and cooperation partners in Denmark, Sweden and US, and we're likely to start the international expansion in these countries.
Why did you become an entrepreneur?
The co-founders, Marie and Sigrun, where discussing the lack of easy access to rent clothes and decided to start the service they had been missing.
Aside from achieving commercial success, what do you see as your startup’s mission?
To make rental the default way of consuming non-basic clothes: it will save the environment and increase people's ability to express themselves visually
Describe your perfect day at work.
What makes the people at FJONG the most happy are happy customers. The perfect day would therefore be a day where several customers, in different ages, life situations and with different styles would tell stories about how they felt good after having used FJONG.
What is your best advice for entrepreneurs who are just starting out?
1. Talk to people - it helps you to articulte your idea and strengthen your commitment to follow up on your plans. 2. Follow your intuition and believe in yourself - people will give you advices, but in the end, you have to trust your own instincts. 3. Be prepared to work hard - there will be challenges on its way, you just have to work through them!
