Q&A with Marianne Bratt Ricketts
Co-founder and CEO @ VIBBIO
What is your vision?
Becoming the biggest and most important platform for building knowledge globally. We want to simplify information and make it understandable for everyone. If you have knowledge on what is relevant to your daily life or your future, you will be able to adapt, get inspired, excited and you will start to see opportunities rather than threats. Knowledge is power; it is everywhere and should be accessible to anyone. We are creating a dedicated space where in only 1 minute you can learn something new or share your own knowledge.
How did you meet your co-founder?
Stina and I were working on a project at 3in and were in charge of rebranding it to Innomag. After a couple of months of working together, we shared a huge connection and mutual respect. We were very complementary. Stina is full of energy and naturally curious, while I am more reflective. She will be on the phone, while I will be writing an email. We also shared the same vision and willingness to challenge the media industry and decided to start a company. In 3 weeks, we had a name, 3 different domains, logos, 2 companies, business plans, and a customer. VIBBIO was born.
What do you look for in future candidates?
Curiosity, hard work, passion, kindness, and knowing what it’s like to work in a startup. Working in a startup is hard work but hopefully it will pay off.
How are you funded?
We are self-funded. We have had paying clients from the start. In fact, we had our first customer Crayon AS, even before the registration of our company. We are launching our new VIBBIO platform in Q1 2017 and will be then looking for investors. Our current advisory board is coming in with small investments as well and we have few more angel investors who are super keen to support us and be part of the journey.
